The Cat In The Hat Cookies and The Baby's Nursery....

Don't you just love Dr Seuss? I know I do! These cat in the hat cookies were inspired by my latest project......Wanna know what I've been up to?

It's been a while hasn't it. Seems like forever since I've last blogged.....or baked for that matter.

Shortly after I was taken off of bed rest, my husband retired from the military. With two injured knees, he was medically retired and we had just about two weeks notice before moving.......pregnant with five kids in tow. Talk about stressful.

For someone like me (a major control freak), this was something that was going to be hard for me. After all there was no way I was going to be able to pack a thing....doctor's orders.

So there I was laying on the sofa watching my husband and the two older girls pack.  After about the eighth box they had to label "cookie room" they started to tell me I wasn't allowed to buy anymore cookie stuff.

Funny aren't they....NOT.

They said that about everything I owned.....with the exception of my shoes. Maybe they are hoping to inherit those after I'm gone.

We've been busy getting the house in order and unpacking as much as we can. If I never see another moving box again, it will be fine by me.

What didn't get unpacked was stuck in the garage. They can get unpacked at another time.

The house we decided to buy was my mother-in-laws. It's been for sale for a while and needed lots of updating.....this was a project I decided to take on in my third trimester of pregnancy.....lol.

We've made many changes in the house, but the one I'm most excited about is the baby's nursery. I decided to take a stab at doing a mural on the baby's walls. I am NOT an artist by any means. My mother-in-law lent me a projector for this project and boy did it come in handy. After using it I knew I wanted a KopyKake projector for cookies. I'll be ordering one of those sometime this week.

After the nursery was painted, I put down the wood floors and the nursery was finally complete!

I just have to hang the baby's name behind the bed and get a rug.

Wanna see all the hard work???

Well as you can tell I've been busy....but I'm back in my newly designed kitchen just baking my little heart out.

What has everyone else been up to? I've missed y'all!

Busy Bee Cookies.....

Oh how I've missed my online friends.  I've been stalking everyones cookie pages and WOW you guys have been so busy.

The only thing I've been busy with is online shopping. I've bought probably eight pairs of heels. I can't wear them right now, but what the heck right. I love heels and they'll be there after I have the baby and I can wear them again.

I think that's the one thing I miss the most being pregnant.....heels. Oh how I love heels. They make everything better.

When I was on bed rest I did have my husband put some heels on my feet, just so I could stare at them for a while. Yep, my husband puts up with a lot.

A WHOLE lot.

Well I got a good bit of baking done.....It's barefoot baking right now. It's amazing how many things I can't reach in the kitchen now. I may have to get a step stool to use for a while.

Well now that I'm back in the kitchen I know I have to get busy.....bee busy. So much to catch up with.  Well I can't work as fast as bees do, but I can make some really cute bee cookies.

Sorry I don't have pictures of the step by step. Somehow they were erased off my memory card.

So it's just a step by step list for you today......not quite the same but you'll forgive me right?

First start out with a square scalloped cookie.

1. Outline and fill with white royal icing. Let dry 5-6 hours.

2. Place a medium sized bead of yellow royal icing. I used about 20 second icing. Let dry.

3. Place a small bead of black 20 second royal icing for the bee's head, right next to the yellow bead of icing. Let dry about 2 hours.

4. With black royal icing (outlining consistency) and a #1 tip pipe lines on the yellow bead for the bee's stripes. Then add wings and antennae.

5. Allow cookies to dry. Then eat and enjoy!

Valentine's Lingerie Cookies

What's Valentine's without a little lingerie.....right?

This Valentine's day I do NOT want lingerie.....nope....a bottle of anti-nausea meds and a pillow will be the best thing my husband can get me. Secretly that is what I'm wishing for. It's the simple pleasures in life right?

The first cookies I ever made were bra and panties cookies. They were for the deployed soldiers in my husband's unit.

My husband has been deployed twice, so I've made my fair share of lingerie cookies. I'll show you how to make a variety of bra and panties cookies at a later date. For today, we're going to make red with black polka dots. It's a very simple one to do.

First you will cut out heart shaped cookies and cut the pointed end off.
Then bake and cool your cookies.
With red royal icing and a #2 tip,  pipe your outline for the bra. Let dry about 15 minutes.

With red flood icing, fill in bra section.
Add straps with red royal icing and a #2 tip. I made two lines for straps then piped dots in between.
Let dry several hours or overnight.

After bra is dried add a center dot.

For the panties pipe outline with red royal icing and a #2 tip. Let dry 15 min.

fill in panties with red flood icing. Add another outline above first line with red royal icing and #2 tip.

Add dots with the red royal icing and #2 tip. Let cookie dry several hours.

With black royal icing and #1 tip add dots to bra and panties. Allow to dry.
