I Love Ewe Cookies

A while back I bought this cute little sheep cutter from Fancy Flours.

Finally, I'm getting around to using it. Better late then never right? These are perfect for a child's Valentine party.

I thought these cookies were simple enough that even the beginner could make them. It's not the fastest cookie to make. You must exercise some patience with drying in between, but the final outcome is worth it. I love the texture the dots give the cookie. Don't you?

Here it goes......

I Love Ewe Cookies

1. Start out with baked sheep cookies. If you don't have this exact cutter you can use a different sheep cutter. Just adjust steps as needed.

2. Outline head of sheep using black piping consistency icing and a #2 tip. Switch out tips to a #3 tip and pipe legs on the sheep.

3. With flood consistency black royal icing fill in head of sheep. Allow to dry.

4. After head is dry. Using white royal icing a little thinner than piping consistency add a dot for the sheep's eye. I used a #2 tip for this. Then with a #1 tip pipe a small black dot on top of the white one.

5. With red royal icing a bit thinner than piping consistency fill in the heart that is embossed on the cookie. If you are using a different cutter, simple make a heart in the center of the sheep cookie you are using.

6. With white icing (a little thinner than piping consistency) add dots all over the body of the sheep. Leaving a space between the dots. Allow the dots to dry about 30-40 min before applying next layer of dots.
*TIP.....Squeeze harder for larger dots and lighter for the smaller ones. I used a variety of sizes.
**TIP....stay clear of the heart if it is not dry yet. Otherwise you have the mess you see pictured above. That can be avoided by allowing the heart to dry first.

7. Repeat adding layer of dots. Allowing them to dry 30-40 min before applying another layer. Do this until the entire body of the sheep is filled.

The finished sheep!
These sheep would also work well for a baby shower. Just simply change the red heart to blue or pink.

Valentine's Lingerie Cookies

What's Valentine's without a little lingerie.....right?

This Valentine's day I do NOT want lingerie.....nope....a bottle of anti-nausea meds and a pillow will be the best thing my husband can get me. Secretly that is what I'm wishing for. It's the simple pleasures in life right?

The first cookies I ever made were bra and panties cookies. They were for the deployed soldiers in my husband's unit.

My husband has been deployed twice, so I've made my fair share of lingerie cookies. I'll show you how to make a variety of bra and panties cookies at a later date. For today, we're going to make red with black polka dots. It's a very simple one to do.

First you will cut out heart shaped cookies and cut the pointed end off.
Then bake and cool your cookies.
With red royal icing and a #2 tip,  pipe your outline for the bra. Let dry about 15 minutes.

With red flood icing, fill in bra section.
Add straps with red royal icing and a #2 tip. I made two lines for straps then piped dots in between.
Let dry several hours or overnight.

After bra is dried add a center dot.

For the panties pipe outline with red royal icing and a #2 tip. Let dry 15 min.

fill in panties with red flood icing. Add another outline above first line with red royal icing and #2 tip.

Add dots with the red royal icing and #2 tip. Let cookie dry several hours.

With black royal icing and #1 tip add dots to bra and panties. Allow to dry.

Valentine Cupcake Cookies

Stores are coming out with holiday stuff earlier and earlier. When I went to Hobby Lobby the other day to grab some Mardi Gras sanding sugars for my giveaway, they were already putting out Easter stuff.

You think they could wait for one holiday to be over before they start putting out stuff for the next.

Watch, next year they'll be selling Christmas stuff in May.

I'm not sure about you, but I can't get all excited and want to buy stuff when it isn't even close to that time of year.

I managed to GLANCE at the Easter stuff.......that's right, I glanced. I didn't look long enough to purchase, but didn't look too fast as to not see.

See....I know how to do it.

Ok well you're here on my blog and we are on the proper season/holiday. So you get Valentine's day stuff.  I promise that I won't start Halloween now or anything crazy like that.....okay? Sound good?

Good, we're on the same page.

Today I'm going to show you how to make Valentine's cupcakes.

First roll out your sugar cookie dough and cut out cupcakes.
I have a great sugar cookie recipe if you need one.

Bake and cool your cookies. I like to do this the day before.

Using a pink royal icing and a #2 tip outline the cookie, making a cupcake liner.
Let dry about 15 minutes.

Now with pink flood icing, fill that part in. Allow to dry several hours.

Now with red royal icing and a #2 tip outline a heart at the top of cupcake.
Let dry about 15 minutes.

Fill heart with red flood icing. Allow to dry several hours.

With white royal icing and #2 tip, Outline white part of cupcake.
Let dry about 15 minutes.

Fill section with white flood icing.

While the white icing is still WET, put some red sprinkles on.
You could use any sprinkles you choose. Heart sprinkles would be cute.
Let cookie dry several hours.

Now outline the heart with red royal icing and add lines to the cupcake liner.

Enjoy your cookies for Valentine's day.......or make them for November, if you like to do things early like the stores.....just kidding.

Red Lip Cookies

Let's talk about lips.  I love red lips. Maybe my love for red lips started when I first saw The Rocky Horror Picture show, but every since I was a teenager I always wanted to wear red lipstick.

Of course, my mother would NEVER allow red lipstick. No way, no how. Wasn't gonna happen.  Didn't stop me from wanting to decorate my room with red lips or buy every shirt that had a pair of lips on it......hey I grew up in the 80's, we wore weird stuff.

I fell in love with this red lip sofa when I was in Paris. I had no way of getting it home at the time, or it would have been mine.

Paris 2008

Should have strapped it to the top of the car!

Well I don't own a lip sofa, but I do have some lip cookies. I didn't have a lip cookie cutter, I know hard to believe. I didn't let that stop me. I just made my own template with stencil paper and cut it out by hand.

These cookies are so easy. The hardest thing is the drying time in between sections.

Start with lip shaped sugar cookies. If you need a good recipe you can try my cookie recipe.

With red royal icing and a #2 tip outline the lips. The center line does NOT have to be perfect.
This will make them look more realistic.

Work in sections. First fill in the bottom section with red 20 second royal icing.
Allow to dry for several hours.

After the first section has dried a while, fill top section in. Allow to dry overnight.

There you have it.......some red lips for Valentine's day!

Love Bites Cookies

Valentine's Day......

Let's face it, it's not for single people.  It's a holiday all about love.

When I was single I hated Valentine's day. It was the most dreaded holiday. Everyone was talking about love, getting candy, flowers, jewelry....you name it.

Leaves a single gal feeling quite ALONE!

When your single LOVE BITES! Big time!

So I thought I would make some cookies for those of you out there that are single and feel that love does bite. Or maybe some of you just don't like Valentine's day. After all it is all about mushy gushy love stuff.

Roll out cookie dough and cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter.

Next take a scalloped edged heart and cut a "bite" from the side of the heart.

Remove tiny piece of dough. You will not need this. Bake your cookies at 375˚ for 10-12 min.

Next outline your cookie with red royal icing and a #2 tip. Allow to dry for about 15-30 minutes.

Next with red flood icing, start filling in the cookie.

After the heart is completely filled, be sure to pop any air bubbles with a toothpick or this yellow stick. Let cookie dry overnight.

When cookie is completely dry, using a #1.5 PME tip and white royal icing, pipe LOVE BITES on the cookie. I use stiffer royal icing for this step so the letters don't run.
You could fit the entire words on the cookie or you could have it so that the "S" looks like
it was bitten off.  After the words are piped, let dry for a few hours.

If you wanted a cute idea for a boy's valentine's, You can add a crocodile cookie.

Wanna know how to make the Crocodile? Come back tomorrow and I'll have a tutorial on how to make him. He's really easy to make.

I Love you cookies

Yippie! My tv programs are off of their holiday break!

In my opinion they really didn't need a break. I didn't get one....and my life is certainly a lot happier when I have my tv programs to watch.

Seriously, this entire time of "their break" I lost out on quality education.

I didn't get to finish up my medical education (Grey's Anatomy)

I didn't learn how to be the perfect housewife (Desperate Housewives) ....by the way, Bree is my idol!

I forgot useful tips on WHAT NOT TO DO if I so choose to murder someone. (CSI Las Vegas & Miami)

And I really wanted to brush up on what to do if I ever encounter an Original (Vampire Diaries)

and I forgot how funny it was when someone JUST GOT LICKED (Lizard Licked)

See....life isn't the same without your television programs. Keep in mind I have to record EVERYTHING on the DVR because EVERY television in the house is being taken over by someone else.

I know these people were taught how to SHARE......because ummmm DUH I'm the mother of them...well all but one....and He's married to me and not seeing me make pouty faces should be enough for him to share the tv, but apparently it's not. Video games win.

I'd even be happy if he was a football watching husband because well, I LOVE to watch the Saints play, but no I can watch him slay dragons, the undead, and many other weird idontevenknowwhattheyare things.  Real educational stuff.

See my programs are educational (see above list) and theirs are not! So why is it that I get less tv time than anyone? Go figure. It is what it is. At least I have you guys to talk to.....and my cookies.

I love them, even if they are all greedy.

So....I made them I love you cookies. In different languages.

Hey, I gotta teach them something. Apparently they didn't get the "sharing" lesson.

Valentine's Owl cookies

How cute are these? Other than their jacked up eyes. I should NOT have done them first. Or I could have outlined them.

Everyone seemed to go crazy over owls a while back and I just didn't see the excitement until I made these owl cookies back in October. Then I just loved owls too.

Had to even buy the babies some cute owl jammies.

Well here are some Valentine's Day Owls.

My teenage daughter Miss B and I decided instead of giving out Valentine's cards this year, she would give out Valentine's cookies to all her friends. Isn't that a cute idea?.....although now I've gotta make all the cookies.

And when Miss B decided this.....my three year old Miss P decided she was going to need some for her dance class......FYI there is NO dance class. She pretends to have a class all the time and orders cookies from me. Too funny huh?

Maybe when she gets older she will remember actually being in dancing school and I won't have to actually bring her to one. What do you think? Yeah, I didn't think so either.

Now I'm getting the oven heated up for cookies for an imaginary class. Something simple.....maybe imaginary cookies? Just kidding, I couldn't do that to her.

Do your kids do silly things like have imaginary classes? Please tell me she's normal....five kids and this is the first one who has an imaginary something.

You could also make owl cookies with a heart cutter like Sweet Sugarbelle did here and just do them in red and white or pink and white.

Love Letter Cookies

I love writing letters. Traditional letters.....you know the ones with pen and paper.

No Emails or text.

A REAL letter.

Maybe it's the military wife in me. After two deployments I'm a letter writing PRO!

It was the ONLY good thing during the deployment. I wrote my husband every day.

There was just something about buying all the pretty stationery. And lets not forget to spray it with some perfume.

Last but not least, it was sealed with a lipstick kiss or some sort of sticker.

So when making Valentine's day cookies I just had to make a little envelope with a heart on it. Too cute right?

Well they were quite easy too.

You'll need:
rectangle cookies
white royal icing
red royal icing
#2 tip

First outline cookie

Next fill two opposite sections and let dry a few hours.

Then fill top section and allow to dry several hours. Then fill bottom section.
 Let dry a few hours

After cookie is dry pipe details and allow to dry about an hour.

Then outline a heart

Fill heart with red flood icing.
If you want to leave heart as just an outline then do heart before the detail on the envelope.
Mine was an afterthought so the detail was already piped.
