Nicki Minaj Concert Cookies....
My thirteen year old daughter has been making the honor roll for years. We always get her something nice at the end of each year.
One year we got her an ipod, one year an ipone, one year a kindle....and so on.
Normally when we ask her what she wants, she quickly lets us know that she wants to see Nicki Minaj in concert. Well, that's hard when she isn't performing anywhere near where you live.
When I received an email from ticketmaster two months ago letting me know that Nicki was coming to New Orleans, I knew I had to get tickets for my daughter.....no matter what.
Well......my husband had other ideas about this. His first response was NO WAY, NO HOW.....I was pregnant and was not going to go into dangerous New Orleans with our teenage daughter to this concert.
So I had to pull out the pouty face.....and let me tell you I make a very convincing pouty face.....He never can say no to that face. For the first time, he did. I'm not one to take No for an answer sooooo, I looked him right in the eyes and said "We are going to the concert, you can come with us....but I'm buying tickets...she's been waiting forever".
He looked at me, sighed and said "OOOOKKAYYY"
So, last Friday night my husband and I took our daughter to her first concert. It was a great concert! My husband played games on his iphone the entire time, but hey at least we were there.
The things we do for our kids. We sat through 2 Chainz and Nicki Minaj all in one night.
And as if sitting through a rap concert 7 months pregnant wasn't enough for my daughter, she asked me to make cookies....so I did. After all, her pouty face is even more convincing then mine.
**To make the lip cookies follow my tutorial here.
**The splatter cookie was made using Sweet Sugarbell's technique from her speckled egg post. Then just add the text when the cookie is dry.

We're having a.......
BOY!!!!!
I'm so excited to tell you we are having a boy!
Slade Jaxon Marrs
I have one son and four daughters. Do you know how many years of pink that is? Don't get me wrong, I love pink. It's my favorite color....BUT it's been almost nineteen years since I've had a son and we are over the moon excited.
I'm ready for dinosaurs, trains, and one of my favorite things to do with my son was bring him to T-ball practice.
Since I love baseball for little boys, I thought it would be so cute to make baseball rattles. Here's how you make them.
1. Bake rattle cookies and let cool.
2. With a #2 tip and white royal icing, outline the cookie and let dry
3. After outline has dried, flood cookie with thinned white royal icing. Let dry overnight.
4. With a #2 tip and red royal icing add details to cookie. Let dry a few hours.
Only seven weeks left and the baby will be here! I almost can't wait, except I kinda have no choice. The baby pretty much calls the shots right now.
So I have to wait....and wait...and wait.
I'll use all this waiting time to bake cookies and share them with you.
Sound good?

The Cat In The Hat Cookies and The Baby's Nursery....
Don't you just love Dr Seuss? I know I do! These cat in the hat cookies were inspired by my latest project......Wanna know what I've been up to?
It's been a while hasn't it. Seems like forever since I've last blogged.....or baked for that matter.
Shortly after I was taken off of bed rest, my husband retired from the military. With two injured knees, he was medically retired and we had just about two weeks notice before moving.......pregnant with five kids in tow. Talk about stressful.
For someone like me (a major control freak), this was something that was going to be hard for me. After all there was no way I was going to be able to pack a thing....doctor's orders.
So there I was laying on the sofa watching my husband and the two older girls pack. After about the eighth box they had to label "cookie room" they started to tell me I wasn't allowed to buy anymore cookie stuff.
Funny aren't they....NOT.
They said that about everything I owned.....with the exception of my shoes. Maybe they are hoping to inherit those after I'm gone.
We've been busy getting the house in order and unpacking as much as we can. If I never see another moving box again, it will be fine by me.
What didn't get unpacked was stuck in the garage. They can get unpacked at another time.
The house we decided to buy was my mother-in-laws. It's been for sale for a while and needed lots of updating.....this was a project I decided to take on in my third trimester of pregnancy.....lol.
We've made many changes in the house, but the one I'm most excited about is the baby's nursery. I decided to take a stab at doing a mural on the baby's walls. I am NOT an artist by any means. My mother-in-law lent me a projector for this project and boy did it come in handy. After using it I knew I wanted a KopyKake projector for cookies. I'll be ordering one of those sometime this week.
After the nursery was painted, I put down the wood floors and the nursery was finally complete!
I just have to hang the baby's name behind the bed and get a rug.
Wanna see all the hard work???
Well as you can tell I've been busy....but I'm back in my newly designed kitchen just baking my little heart out.
What has everyone else been up to? I've missed y'all!

Busy Bee Cookies.....
Oh how I've missed my online friends. I've been stalking everyones cookie pages and WOW you guys have been so busy.
The only thing I've been busy with is online shopping. I've bought probably eight pairs of heels. I can't wear them right now, but what the heck right. I love heels and they'll be there after I have the baby and I can wear them again.
I think that's the one thing I miss the most being pregnant.....heels. Oh how I love heels. They make everything better.
When I was on bed rest I did have my husband put some heels on my feet, just so I could stare at them for a while. Yep, my husband puts up with a lot.
A WHOLE lot.
Well I got a good bit of baking done.....It's barefoot baking right now. It's amazing how many things I can't reach in the kitchen now. I may have to get a step stool to use for a while.
Well now that I'm back in the kitchen I know I have to get busy.....bee busy. So much to catch up with. Well I can't work as fast as bees do, but I can make some really cute bee cookies.
Sorry I don't have pictures of the step by step. Somehow they were erased off my memory card.
So it's just a step by step list for you today......not quite the same but you'll forgive me right?
First start out with a square scalloped cookie.
1. Outline and fill with white royal icing. Let dry 5-6 hours.
2. Place a medium sized bead of yellow royal icing. I used about 20 second icing. Let dry.
3. Place a small bead of black 20 second royal icing for the bee's head, right next to the yellow bead of icing. Let dry about 2 hours.
4. With black royal icing (outlining consistency) and a #1 tip pipe lines on the yellow bead for the bee's stripes. Then add wings and antennae.
5. Allow cookies to dry. Then eat and enjoy!
